Electronics is one of the fastest-growing industries today. The technological revolution has created numerous career opportunities for people with the right skills.
HoHoKus RETS' Electronics and Computer Technology Program is an intensive 18 month course that provides students with the skills they need to obtain entry-level positions in the electronics and computer industries. The course is 50% theory, 50% hands-on lab work, and gives students a solid basis in fundamental electronics, as well as prepares them to take the A+ and Net + computer certification examinations. Graduates enter employment in the assembly, calibration, repair, installation and service of a wide variety of electronics, including computers, office machines, medical instrumentation, industrial, consumer and communications equipment.
Students receive hands-on training using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, soldering irons, audio generators, logic probes and computer diagnostics. Troubleshooting electrical components and electronic circuits is emphasized throughout the program. The course of study includes both the fundamentals and advanced theory of electronics, integrated circuits and microprocessing. Students also receive hands-on training on test equipment and a background in the fundamentals of digital computers, hardware, software and networking. Preparation for the A+ and Net + Certification examinations includes extensive theory and hands-on work in a computer lab.
Upon successful completion of the 18-month program, students are awarded a diploma. In addition, the program has been evaluated by the American Council on Education's (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service which determined that the courses are equivalent to or similar to those taught at the college level, awarding up to 41 recommended college credits for transfer upon completion of the course.
